About Us
Engineers’ Guild of Sri Lanka was formed in the year 1981. Senior qualified professionals joined hands with academics and qualified senior engineers working in various capacities in the state sector and in the private sector were responsible in forming the Engineers Guild of Sri Lanka. It has turned to be one of the most active member associations of OPA. EGSL joined the OPA in1987 as the 14 th Member Association.]
The objective of forming the association is mainly bringing together very senior engineers who did not have a Charter because of stringent rules and regulations to fulfill for a Charter at that time. EGSL did not allow them to be cut off from the engineering society. Had we not formed the Guild on time the profession itself would have lost their knowledge and experience. This gave vent to form the Engineers’ Guild to socialize in engineering society, all these great men involved in responsible engineering practice, to absorb and recognize them in the engineering brotherhood.

I am inspired by their commitment to EGSL and all of their achievements. Indeed, the growth of EGSL has been propelled collectively by the individuals and all the past presidents and past members of the EGSL Board and Executive Committee.
